Meet Our New 2nd Grade Teacher!!
My name is Amy Blankenship, and I am elated to join the 2nd Grade Team at Norwood Primary! It is such a blessing that the school district is committed to keeping class sizes as low as possible.
I graduated from the University of West GA in March 1996 and was fortunate enough to begin my teaching career a week later. My motto has always been “Be the teacher you wish for your child.” Over the years, I had the privilege of teaching numerous students, all with various learning styles. I look forward to meeting my new students, getting to know them and helping them on their educational journey. We have an exciting year ahead of us!
My family has been in IL since 2005, when we moved to my husband’s hometown of Washington. Eric is a mechanical engineer for Caterpillar. We have two daughters and one son. Rebecca is a sophomore and Rachel is a senior. They both are in band. Brett graduated from my alma mater with a degree in business administration and lives in GA. Our cat Snickers keeps us on our toes, but he rounds out our family nicely.
When I am not working or spending time with my family, I spend most of my time doing genealogy research. I recently joined the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution) and volunteer helping veterans, cleaning headstones, promoting citizenship and American history.
Please stop by my classroom and say hello. If you have any questions, concerns or wish to volunteer you may reach me by email or calling the school.
