2025 Illinois School Report Card Designations

The 2025 Illinois School Report Card has officially been released, providing an overview of key performance metrics from the 2024–2025 school year. These results serve as an important reflection of our district’s continued growth, progress, and the impact of the initiatives outlined in each school’s improvement plan.

We are proud to share that both Norwood Elementary School and Norwood Primary School earned Commendable designations this year. This recognition reflects the hard work of our students, staff, and families, as well as the district’s sustained focus on evidence-based instruction, attendance initiatives, and academic supports.

It’s important to note how far our schools have come. In 2019, Norwood Elementary was designated as Targeted, and in 2022, Norwood Primary was designated as Comprehensive. Over the past three years, Norwood Primary has shed that designation and continued to achieve Commendable status—a clear indicator of meaningful, sustained improvement.

Highlights from Norwood Primary School:

  • Chronic absenteeism has decreased from 42.9% in 2022 to 26.3% in 2025, a significant improvement that reflects the collective effort to prioritize consistent attendance.

  • ELA growth continues to rise, approaching state averages, while math achievement continues to steadily increase as students recover from post-pandemic learning disruptions.

Highlights from Norwood Elementary School:

  • Chronic absenteeism has dropped from 41% in 2022 to 23% in 2025.

  • ELA growth exceeded the state average at 58.3%, and ELA proficiency reached 51.7%, just shy of the state average.

While we celebrate this progress, we recognize that student growth and success extend beyond a single state assessment. Our commitment remains to ensuring every student is equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive—academically, socially, and personally—both in high school and in everyday life. We also acknowledge that there are still areas for growth, and our teachers and staff remain deeply committed to ensuring we continue striving toward success for all students.
