Dear Norwood Families -
This letter is to inform you that the Board of Education intends to consider adopting an e-learning plan beginning with the 2025–2026 school year. If approved, the plan would be in effect for three years, with the option to renew.
As a reminder, Public Act 101-0012, effective July 1, 2019, reinstates the requirement that a school day consist of a minimum of five hours of instructional time - a provision that previously sunset in 2017. The law also allows school districts statewide to use e-learning days in place of emergency days and provides flexibility for students to engage in career-connected learning outside of the classroom.
A board hearing regarding the e-learning plan is scheduled for December 15, 2025, at 5:55pm, immediately prior to the regular board meeting. The meeting will be held at Norwood Elementary School, 6521 W. Farmington Rd., Peoria, IL 61604.
