Dear Norwood Families and Staff,
At Monday evening's Board of Education meeting, the Board officially approved the leadership transition plan following the resignation of Superintendent Mr. Jake Flowers, who has accepted another professional opportunity.
The Board is pleased to announce the following leadership appointments for the 2026-2027 school year:
Mr. Dan Mair
has been appointed as Interim Superintendent. Mr. Mair is a retired superintendent from Germantown Hills School District and brings many years of educational leadership experience. He will oversee the responsibilities of the Superintendent while working closely alongside district leadership throughout the year.
Mr. Dustin Bevard
has been hired as Associate Superintendent. During the upcoming school year, Mr. Bevard will work alongside Mr. Mair to oversee the district's financial operations, human resources, and overall district leadership while also continuing to supervise grades 4 and 5. This collaborative transition is designed to prepare Mr. Bevard to assume the role of Superintendent following the 2026-2027 school year.
Ms. Kim Fryman
has been named Principal of Norwood Elementary School (NES).
At Norwood Primary School (NPS),
Mrs. Lindsey Nyberg
has been appointed Dean of Students following the resignation of
Mrs. Becky Gall
, who has accepted a principal position in another school district. The Board thanks Mrs. Gall for her service to Norwood and wishes her continued success in her new role.
The Board of Education is excited to implement a thoughtful succession plan that emphasizes continuity and stability. By selecting leaders who are already familiar with Norwood School District, the Board is confident the district will continue building upon its many successes while making meaningful improvements in areas of need. This transition reflects the Board's commitment to providing strong leadership and ensuring that students, staff, and families continue to receive the high-quality educational experience they have come to expect.
The Board would also like to extend its sincere appreciation to Mr. Jake Flowers for his eight years of dedicated service to Norwood School District—serving two years as Principal of Norwood Elementary School and the past six years as Superintendent. During his tenure, the district experienced significant growth and progress in academics, facilities, school safety, and student opportunities. The Board is grateful for his leadership, dedication, and commitment to the Norwood community and wishes Mr. Flowers and his family all the best as they begin this exciting new chapter.
