Dear Norwood Families, Keeping our students safe is our TOP priority. Unfortunately, bus behavior has been a concern lately and is creating an unsafe environment for our students. In an effort to fix this problem, we are taking the following actions: Reteaching bus expectations in every classroom. Posting bus expectations in the hallways and on the buses. Offering incentives for positive behavior. Creating a seating chart to place students strategically throughout the bus. We know the kids can do it, but we need your help too! Please review the bus rules with your child at home AND stress the importance of safe bus behavior. We greatly appreciate your support with this matter.

September 13, 2024 Norwood Families, As part of our ongoing commitment to student safety, we want to inform you that we will be conducting our annual, required lockdown drill in coordination with law enforcement on Monday, September 23rd. The drill will take place at both school buildings. In accordance with Illinois State requirements, we are notifying students, staff, and families in advance. If you would like your child(ren) to opt out of the drill, please contact the office. To opt out, you will need to either pick up your student just before the drill or bring them to school after it has concluded. The drill at NES will begin around 9:15 a.m. and at NPS around 9:45 a.m. Please note that since the entire building will be participating, we won’t have an alternative space for students who are not participating. If you have any questions or would like more information about the drill, feel free to contact your building secretary. Please also be aware that this is a routine drill that we have conducted in previous years. There will be no special effects or sounds, and our local law enforcement will simply walk the hallways to ensure doors are locked and our safety procedures are up-to-date. Yours in safety, Norwood Administration
